In a unexpected crossover event that challenges conventional expectations, the game developer has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of banned rituals and fearsome transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret group.

The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
